I love me a 6.0. As long as the PO did oil changes on time. Those oil driven  pump injectors get real mad if you pump sludge through them

Check the cab and bed corners. Prone to rust

After helping my dad with issue after issue with his it gets no love from me. It’s finally running correctly now, four years after buying it, after replacing or fixing almost every problem area these things have to offer other than the head bolts. Thank god for that last one. Even my dad, as dyed in the wool Ford Guy as you’ll ever meet, was wavering in his loyalty.

My FIL has a F-350 and Excursion both 6.0. 190k on the Excursion 130k on the F-350. The only really problems he’s had is the injectors on the Excursion because he doesn’t change his oil enough. And that was at like 170,000 miles.

Oh and the starter has randomly fallen off the Excursion more than once.

That’s the thing, even if a vehicle has a 20% failure rate, which is HUGE, there will be 80% of them that are fine. My dad’s has had the EGR/EGR cooler issues, oil cooler issues, fuel pressure issues, injector issues, and to top it off a turbo failure. Now that it’s running it’s great. He’s bragging about how good the mileage is when pulling their camp trailer and acting like it was like this from day one. He doesn’t mention that the A/C isn’t currently working.

rust is the least of your concerns with a first year 6.0 Powerstroke.
